Privacy Policy
Lalai is a sleep app. It has no accounts, no sign-up and no sign-in, and it is built so that we do not learn who you are. This page explains exactly what that means, and the few places where information does leave your phone.
What we do not do
- We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or date of birth.
- There are no advertisements in the app, and no advertising networks in it.
- There is no analytics or crash-reporting service in the app. We do not measure which stories you play, how long you listen, or when you open it.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we ask for no permission to.
- We do not sell, rent or share personal information with anyone, for any purpose.
The anonymous id
Paid stories and sounds are stored on our servers rather than inside the app, so something has to establish that a request for one comes from a subscriber. Lalai does that with a single random identifier created on your device the first time you open it. It is not derived from your name, your email, your phone or your hardware, and it is not linked to your Apple or Google account. When you subscribe it becomes the id our payments provider holds the subscription against.
That id is sent with each request for a paid file, so the server can ask our payments provider whether the subscription behind it is active. That answer is the only thing it learns.
Purchases
Subscriptions are bought and charged through the App Store or Google Play. We never see or handle your payment details — Apple and Google do, under their own privacy policies.
To know whether a subscription is valid we use RevenueCat, which checks the store receipt on our behalf. RevenueCat receives the anonymous id above, the receipt and basic device information such as the platform and app version. It does not receive your name or email, because the app does not have them. Server logs
Audio and artwork are delivered through Cloudflare. As with any web server, its logs briefly record the IP address, time and file requested. These are used only to keep the service running and to stop abuse, they are kept for a short period, and they are not combined with anything else or used to build a profile of you.
App updates
The app can receive small updates over the air from Expo. Checking for one sends the app version and platform, and nothing about you or what you listen to. See expo.dev/privacy.
What stays on your device
Your settings, your saved mixes, your place in a story and any audio you have downloaded for offline listening are stored only on your device. They are never uploaded. Deleting the app deletes all of them, and "Clear downloaded sounds" in Settings removes the downloaded audio at any time.
Deleting your data
Because there is no account, uninstalling the app removes everything held on your device and leaves nothing behind that identifies you. If you would also like the subscription record held by our payments provider erased, write to support@lalai.app and we will delete it. Note that deleting it while a subscription is still running will end your access to paid content, and that cancelling or refunding the subscription itself is done through Apple or Google.
Children
Lalai is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. As described above, the app collects no personal information from anyone.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, export or erase personal information we hold about you. We hold none that identifies you; for anything tied to the anonymous id, write to support@lalai.app and we will act on it.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top of it. Material changes will also be announced in the app.
